In Zimbabwe, the industrial gas sector is heavily influenced by the mining boom and the gradual shift from biomass to LPG in urban centers. There is a significant reliance on large gas bottles for gold and platinum mining operations where onsite welding and cutting are essential.
The domestic market has seen a surge in the adoption of the 9 kg gas bottle, as households in Harare and Bulawayo seek reliable cooking alternatives amid fluctuating electricity supplies. This transition requires cylinders that can withstand high ambient temperatures and rough transport conditions.
Furthermore, the food processing industry increasingly utilizes the 8.5 kg gas bottle for specialized additives and preservation gases. The current challenge remains the standardization of valve fittings and the implementation of rigorous safety testing to prevent leakage in high-pressure environments.
